Unlike many other bean bag chairs on the market, Ahh Spot bean bag chairs pass U.S. Flammability Standards. Others may talk about it, but they have no idea if their products even meet the standards! Many bean bags do not! Some say they do, but don't tell you that only parts of their bean bags pass (just the cover, but not the liner or the filling).
Sad, but true.
For our bean bag chair covers, we use fabrics from very well-known and established manufacturers known for their quality and style. These fabrics pass the minimum US flammability standard UFAC class 1. Better yet, they also pass California's more specific flammability standard Technical Bulletin 117 Section E, Part 1: Upholstery Fabrics. We even have one bean bag cover that is made from fabric that passes NFPA 701, a strict "Flame Retardant" test.
For our bean bag chair liners, we use a water-repellent microfiber that also passes both UFAC class1 and California Technical Bulletin 117 Section E, Part 1. (Not to mention our bean bag liner zippers comply with the Consumer Product Safety Commission Zipper Enclosure standard.)
And finally, our bean bag chair polystyrene filling passes California Technical Bulletin 117 Section A, Part 3: Expanded Polystyrene Beads.
We implemented our Law Labels Program, as soon as we were informed that U.S. Law also requires labeling on bean bag chairs. Each label details flammability information, as well as our company information and Uniform Registry Number. We are registered in every required U.S. state to legally sell bean bag chairs, URN # UT1870 (VA). Many, if not most bean bag chairs on the market do not meet US legal requirements. Registration ensures that furniture companies can be monitored by individual states.
