According to Ms. Debbie Heimowitz, a Stanford University Masters student, cyber bullying is a modern crime brought on by the anonymous nature of the Internet.  Cyber bullying is when someone is threatened, harassed, humiliated, or otherwise targeted by another person using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies, or mobile phones. This hateful crime may include a common scenario:  someone posts hateful words on the internet, others post comments in agreement.  Or, a text message is sent anonymously to a cell phone. The victim has no idea who is involved, resulting in anxiety and fear.

Cyber bullies often have no idea what turmoil they cause. Unfortunately, due to the lack of consequences, cyber bullying is increasing.   The result is victims who are depressed and constantly anxious, which has led to suicide.
