Bean Bag Chairs Make New York High Line Garden Comfy

Posted on Monday, 01 February 2010

We just had another snowstorm this past weekend, 4 inches on the ground and freezing.  I just can't wait until Spring is here again to warm my bones!  Sitting in my office, the sunrays streaming through my window actually make me forget for a second how cold it is outside.  And makes me daydream about one of the best days I had last Spring on a research trip to New York City.

I was downtown visiting fabric suppliers and had a chance to visit the High Line Garden.  What used to be the remains of a railway track that carried trainloads of carcasses daily into New York's meatpacking district, was now a place of beauty preserved and renovated into an oasis of wildflowers and greenery.  The coolest part of the "hanging garden" (it's an elevated railway track) is that the old track rail was made into a path to follow and enjoy the butterflies.

There's a part of the track that has wooden lounge chairs built right in, and I thought "Man!  Our Ahh bean bag chairs would be awesome here!".  Weary New Yorkers could come and relax, get some sun, and read a book for hours if giant bean bags were available.  Tourists looking to be Manhattan-ites for a few hours could pull up a bean bag and blend right in.  And oh how the kids would love to visit the High Line Garden, they can never resist bean bag chairs!

Warm weather, flowers, and bean bag chairs...can't wait until Old Man Winter is gone!

Yours truly, Jade
